How can Friday be here again and so quickly??
Not a lot done this week - not an especially good week for me.
I made my little Bleutte girl 'Patti' and dress - she has been waiting quite some time for one!
She is pretty pleased with the result and is looking forward to some more dresses.
I've been trying not to do any knitting as I have a sore left thumb, but it is hard not to knit - I don't know what to do with my hands in the evening if I don't!
Lewis decided he quite liked this fun sweater I made...
...he declared it perfect to wear when walking in the garden...
...where he met up with one of my Robin Rive Bears 'McKenzie'.
Beautiful little dress and Patti is a beautiful little doll :) Can you crochet? I can't, but it might be easier on your thumb. I've thought about crochet, but like a lot of things, I never seem to get around to it. I have been trying to design a new pattern, for a dress with a sleeve shape, so I don't have to try sewing in a sleeve again. Lewis is such a sweet boy and McKenzie looks so cuddlesome :) Jane x
ReplyDeleteThank you Jane :) I can crochet and used to really enjoying doing it. Unfortunately it really causes a pain flare up in my right arm - I guess the action is different to knitting which doesn't seem to affect it in the same way. I often think 'I'll just crochet this little thing' only to learn it is a real no go for me now. So I remind myself this every time I am tempted by those crochet hooks now!
DeleteI'm wondering how you were trying to sew the sleeves in - before you had sewn the side seams? That makes a difference...plus running a gathering stitch first before trying to fit the sleeve in the seam.
I'm sorry you have so much pain :( I tore the rotator cuff in my right shoulder a few years ago and I couldn't even move my arm for months and the slightest knock was excructiating! Fortunately it healed over about 15 months, but it helps me to be more understanding of other peoples pain.
DeleteThe sleeves were the basic Phoebe&egg. They didn't need gathers and were meant to fit the armhole curve. They were to be put in before sewing the side seam. I think I just couldn't get it :/ x
Where does the time go? That dress is perfect for Patti. she looks lovely in it. Lewis' new sweater is very handsome - all of my favorite colors. He has such a personality. I wonder what he and McKenzie talked about on their walk.

Thank you. Whatever he and McKenzie talked about...it is currently still a secret...but who knows?!
DeletePatti is such a lovely girl; quite a beautiful Bleuette :-) and I love Lewis's sweater, what a terrific pattern from the yarn!
ReplyDeletewarmly,
Beth
The yarn is very satisfying...it patterns beautifully.
DeletePatti is gorgeous isn't she? I feel very lucky to have her.
Lewis and Patti look very smart in their new clothes! McKenzie's glasses are very cute :-). I hope your pain goes away soon!
ReplyDeleteThank you for visiting Susi, I have just found your blog :)
DeleteHaving recently decided that my 'social media' time has to be drastically cut due to illness and so, only being a SASHA DOLL collector myself I'll refrain on commenting on any non-Sasha posts... to try to save me all the time and effort of having to type every single letter with the tip of a pencil point.
ReplyDeleteHoping that you will understand.
