80th Anniversary of VE Day

Rose Cottage Friends celebrated the 80th Anniversary of VE Day.

It was very gentile with tea and cakes.

Peggy Sue is having a conversation with April, whilst Saige and Henry look on.

The twins have been serving the tea.

At the little table we have Bowie, Kiwi Sindy, Marie and Wren.

Lindsey and Chrissy are having a good chat too.

Something has caught Saige's attention.

I think they are having a lovely afternoon in the sun.

The twins wonder if anyone needs a top up.

Little Saffron sits with Chrissy, she is the smallest member of the party today.

A Doll A Day for April: Day Four - Saige

Today's doll of the day is my beautiful Saige.  You can read about her arrival in 2013 here: An Amazing Surprise

Here she is wearing her 'Meet' outfit.  She is Girl of the Year 2013.

I changed her into this dress I knitted quite a few years ago in 2017.

The colours bring out the blue in her eyes.

Here she is looking pretty in the garden.

This doll is very special to me as she was a completely unexpected surprise from my son for my birthday all the those years ago.

Pretty Girl in Orange.

At the beginning of August a friend alerted me to the fact that one of the online doll shops based here in England was closing down.  Sadly yet another.  I took advantage of their sale and bought a couple of outfits for Sienna (Saige) the one American Girl doll I am keeping.  (I currently still have two for sale if anyone is interested!).  Well I finally got round to trying an outfit on her today, and am really pleased with it.  It fits well and is very nicely made.  Sienna likes as well.

I think this is just the perfect outfit for her as we drift into the end of summer.

Who said red heads can't wear orange?

I'm hoping to go through all my American Girl clothing and accessories this coming week to sort out what to keep for Sienna and what to pass on. That is the goal anyway!

New Year's Eve Pyjama Party

How better to spend New Year's Eve than with friends.

A fairly simple event this year, they have already gobbled up all the food and are chatting before settling down to watch a movie.

Everlee and Nisha are deep in conversation

Someone has fallen asleep already!  Dorothy is resting up on Chrissy's lap.

Perhaps she is going to wake just before midnight?

Some lively discussion about what to watch.

Sienna Saige chats to Peggy Sue

Looks like I caught Anne-Marie's eye when I sneaked up to take these photos of them.

Will they all make it to midnight or will more fall asleep like Dorothy?

Fashion Friday on Sunday!

Goodness me, it is time for 'Fashion on Friday' already.  Where DID the week go?

I realised I forgot to post this the last TWO Fridays, so here it is on a Sunday!

I've already shown the things I have made during the week for Madeline on this blog post here:  Madeline's Wardrobe.

I have also made some things for the Heartstrings dolls:

Sweater & Hat for my Heartstring doll Thomas.

A sweater & hat set for the Heartstrings dolls - which is now in my Etsy shop and can be found here

A sweater & hat set for a friend's Heartstring doll.

A burgandy sweater & hat set for Heartstrings doll knitted with pure 100% NZ Merino wool.

These sweaters also fit the Makies dolls as shown on Wren below.

A cardigan and hat for Poppy knitted with one of my favourite colour combinations of NZ wool.

A cardigan and sweater set made with a pure wool crepe yarn.

A warm hat and cape for Hitty Madge.

A cardigan for Wren.

As I forgot to post this, I will add the last weeks knitting and sewing projects to it.

I knitted a few 'Lyra' hats.

Hitty Moana shows off hers, and thinks it brings out the colour of her eyes.

Hitty Madge got a shawl as well with hers.

Madeline likes that hers matches her sweater.

I did a tiny bit of sewing...  three pairs of trousers for Madeline

These are her favourite!

A short sleeve cardigan which will also go with her dress and hat set that I made the other week.

I also made her blue apron she was wearing yesterday.

I offered to test knit a pattern for a lady on a group I belong to.

The first stages...

Completed.

Modelled by Saige.

This was a very clear and well written pattern.

There is a hat to go with it, which I will start tonight.
