St Patrick's Day Preparation - Part One

Three of the girls have started getting ready for St Patrick's Day by dressing in green.

Mary Ellen & Amber

Mary Ellen is a 1969 Dungarees Sasha by Trendon and she is wearing a smocked gingham dress.

Amber is one of the first Sasha dolls I got, and she came from Shelly of SashaDollsUK which is now sadly closed down.   Amber is a Large Head Yellow Eyed Pony Tail Gotz Sasha from the 1960s and she is wearing a smocked green dress.

Peggy Sue is wearing a party dress I made for her one year, I believe for her birthday party.

Peggy Sue is a Schoenhut Miss Dolly who was in a bad state of over paint and has been stripped back to her bare wood.

Sasha - Summer

I'm going to try and make an effort to take a photo or two of at least one of my Sasha Family a day for this week...to start with anyway.

First up is Summer who has been with me a couple of years now I think it is.  She is wearing a dress I made a few years ago using New Zealand fabric with a Kowhai print.  I did show a picture of her wearing this back in February, when she was optimistic the weather would improve...she had to wait awhile, but it was perfect warm weather today.

A Sasha Morning - Sasha Girls.

I've spent a few hours with the Sasha girls today.  Helping them decide what they want to wear, and what their various roles are.  Some of the girls will remain 'in character' and others will take part in more day to day life/active roles.

The Rose Hip Chicks have two new members.  Molly and Stevie left the group as they couldn't stand the hectic schedule they were leading, and so Cora and Ziva have joined the group...they are currently on trial to see how they get on. (Previously seen at the Music Festival here:  A Summer Music Festival)

They just need to sort out their instruments now...although primarily a vocal group, they do like to add a bit of instrumentation or percussion to their sound.

Emily is wearing one of her favourite dresses she got at one of the USA Sasha Festivals.  I see she has her hand caught in the ribbon in these two photos!  Molly, who found music life most stressful in part due to her age, is relieved to not be in the limelight and has happily chosen one of the first dresses I made to wear.  It is always a firm favourite amongst the girls.

Charlotte and Erica Michelle, represent Mini Me and my Sister in dresses I modelled on identical dresses my mother made for my sister and I in the very early seventies.   I made these for one of the Sasha Festival Dress a Sasha competitions.

Sally is wearing one of the school uniforms I made for the first Sasha Festival I went to in the UK at Stratford Upon Avon in 2012.

Alice is wearing one of the farm girl outfits I made quite a few years ago now.

Stevie, also relieved not to be involved in the band (despite her namesake!) has gone back to wearing her beloved favourite outfit.  Can you tell she likes shades of purple?!

Sophia is my model, and is currently just wearing a sensible warm dress.

Everlee Rose, who is one of the girls who will be playing a more active role in Rose Cottage Life, is wearing a jumper/sweater I knitted a few years ago and a skirt that we got from one of the Sasha events in the UK.

Summer, ever hopeful that the season summer is approaching (despite the weather!) is wearing a New Zealand themed dress I made featuring Kowhai flowers.

They've now gone back on their shelves.

Not the best photos, I might try with my other camera later, and if better, will replace these photos.

What name?

Sometimes I struggle with names, sometimes they come easily.  I think more recently naming of the dolls and other beings who live at Rose Cottage has become harder.  Is this a reflection of how many I have?  Or perhaps some just take longer to decide 'who' they are.  Below is one of my lads who seems to have just not settled into his name...  This is his current details:

Name: Albert Jack

Birth Year: 1965

Age: 11

Sibling:  Marcia

Favourite Animal: Undecided.

Favourite Colour:  Earthy tones.

Personality: Determined

Hobbies: Yet to be confirmed

Albert arrived home this morning from having 'surgery' on his hypermobile joints.  He featured before Christmas with Henry during the opening of the Advent Calendar, and I knew then he really needed some 'medical' attention as he was very floppy and was having difficult standing up straight.  He is now much happier and looking forward to taking part in adventures once more.

Now he is feeling like a 'new man' as he told Henry, while they were out in the garden, he is thinking about a new name.

Names he has toyed with in his mind so far are:

Marcus & Boris.

Both strong names, or so I have been told. I think he has been watching too many Russian films where the protagonist is called Boris!  Although he said he chose the name after a 16th Century Emperor.  Marcus is of course - so I am reliably informed - Marcus Aurelius, a notable 2nd Century Roman Emperor.  He seems to have done his research, that we have to admit.  I think prefer Marcus ...but will have to wait for him to decide as he seems to have a very strong and determined look on his face, so best to leave it up to him.

Henry was pleased his friend was back from his 'surgical' procedure as it means he has a mate to go around with.  Henry is hoping he will like the 'great outdoors' as much as he does and so they spent some time outside together.

Henry told him he had cleaned out the nature pond while he in 'hospital', he told Henry  he did a pretty good job after inspecting it.

Fortunately they got out in the garden this morning to look at it, as by mid-afternoon the lovely blue sky and sunshine had disappeared, the sky turned black, the heavens opened, and the rain poured down!

Advent 2019 - Day 21

Henry and the girls are eyeing up the calendar to open it today.

They seem to be taking some time trying to find the right door to open.

Eventually Sophia finds it, so she gets to open it.

She opens it carefully.

I wonder what is in here?  She says as Everlee and Henry look on.

Musical instruments!

She shows them the xylophone.

There is also a little recorder and a guitar.

I'll pop them down here.  She says.

The little elves rush over to sort the instruments out.

This is fun isn't it Henry?  Sophia says.

It sure is. Henry agrees.

Henry walks over to see if the others are having fun.

Everlee and Sophia are in discussion....

It is getting very busy in Santa's workshop, and it is certainly keeping them all amused for hours.

Advent 2019 - Day 14

Henry is thinking.... Lewis just wants to get on with opening the calendar...

Done with his thinking, Henry turns to the calendar and looks for the window for today.

Of course it doesn't take him long to find it.  These kids are pretty quick at finding the number for each day.

He opens the little door and reaches in.

He pulls out a little rocking horse.

Henry looks at it intently.

Putting it down on the scene...

It is just the right size for the elves.

The boys sit and play together.

They are pretty pleased with it all so far.
