80th Anniversary of VE Day

Rose Cottage Friends celebrated the 80th Anniversary of VE Day.

It was very gentile with tea and cakes.

Peggy Sue is having a conversation with April, whilst Saige and Henry look on.

The twins have been serving the tea.

At the little table we have Bowie, Kiwi Sindy, Marie and Wren.

Lindsey and Chrissy are having a good chat too.

Something has caught Saige's attention.

I think they are having a lovely afternoon in the sun.

The twins wonder if anyone needs a top up.

Little Saffron sits with Chrissy, she is the smallest member of the party today.

A Doll a Day in April: Day Nine - Kiwi Sindy

My doll for today is Kiwi Sindy.  She is special to me as I found her in a charity shop in NZ in 2019, the last time I went to visit my parents.  Unfortunately I wasn't able to after that due to the restrictions put in place, and then I had terrible back pain, and then I wasn't well enough.

I found her with a Robin Rive bear in Huntley.

She was quite the mess.

I gave her a good wash and knitted an outfit for her while there, and bought a felted hat and boots from a craft fair.

Here she is at my Mum & Dad's place.

Today she is sitting in the garden admiring the flowers and enjoying the lovely weather.

A Little Get Together at the Seaside

Thursday morning we spent a couple of hours with some friends down at the beach.

The boys went riding on their Vespas

Nelson took the bike, but Tom prefers his skateboard

Patrick and Gordon share their bike

So off they go quite happily until....

They spot Wren...oops!

Did you ASK to use my Vespa Nelson?

Perhaps it is time to move on to someone else, and leave them to their discussions...

Henry came too, this must be one of the first outings he has done in a very long time.

I think he enjoyed himself...well at least until a little later...

They all pose for a group photo.

Little Button Mushroom joins in.

I think Helen is interested in the boys!

Poor Henry doesn't look very happy here...he is dripping wet as he fell backwards into the water!

The girls show where they are on the map.

Happy Valentines Day

A few of the smaller girls have dressed up for Valentines Day

We have: Hitty Madge, Kiwi Sindy, Little Miss, Was Willow, but now waiting on a name change, Lili, Wren, Now Willow, Nancy and Nancy Ann Storybook who is either called, He Loves Me, He Loves Me Not, or Queen of Hearts. Personally I think she should be called 'Love Letters'.

All the dolls are wearing dresses made by me, except, Nancy, and 'Love Letters'

Advent 2023 - Day Fifteen

We have Wren and Kiwi Sindy joining Emily to open the calendar today.

Always good to have friends open the calendar with you.

The girls look for the door.

It is just the right level for Wren to open it.

Oh what have you got there Wren?

Two little rabbits!

Aren't they cute?

Wren pops them on the scene by the little tree.

Just perfect.

I hope the little boy doesn't throw snowballs at them.

Thank you ladies for opening the calendar today.

Celebrating the Queen's Life

Wren's best friend Jerica from Market Harborough has come to stay for a few days

The girls decided that instead of mourning the Queen's death, that they would instead celebrate her life with a morning tea party.

Joined by Kiwi Sindy and of course Paddington Bear, a well known friend of the Queen.

They enjoyed a cuppa, with a biscuit and the sounds of nature and the fountain behind them.

Whether you are a Royalist or not, Queen Elizabeth II has to be admired for the life of service she gave to her country, the Commonwealth and the World.  Just as she said on her 21st birthday, she dedicated her whole life to doing exactly that.
