A Doll a Day in April: Day 24 - Rebekah Grace

Today's doll is my special Schoenhut 14/105 that a friend brought back from the USA for me.

The bright pink shoes don't quite match her dress, but they will do.

She does have a lovely wardrobe of clothes which I showed on the video.

New Shoes

Some of the Schoenhut girls have some new shoes which they were very excited about.

Rebekah Grace got a lovely pair of pink shoes which she declared went perfectly with her pink dress.

Peggy Sue got a new pair of yellow shoes that go nicely with her knitted dress and beret.

Mary has a lovely pair of jade coloured shoes that match her knitted socks and dress nicely.

She wanted to shoe you them when standing up too.

While they were trying on their new shoes....

Janice was taking it easy...she already had a lovely pair of shoes made by Schoenhut Cobbler Maureen Leshko which are a perfect match for the knitted dress I made her a few years ago.

Rebekah Grace joins her on the chaise lounge.

Such sweet girls.

The new shoes worn by Rebekah Grace, Peggy Sue and Mary were bought from Petrana at Sasha-Doll.

It can be difficult to get shoes to fit the Schoenhut especially in the UK, so it is nice to be able to get some shoes that work with these dolls.

The little pink pair worn by Rebekah Grace are for I believe the Pongratz dolls. She is a 14/105

Peggy Sue has on a Sasha pair of shoes, they are a little big, she has more toddler size feet, but they work with insoles and thick knitted socks as shown.  Peggy Sue is 16 inches tall.

Mary is 19 inches tall and is also wearing a Sasha pair of shoes (without an insole)  with knitted socks.  She is a 19/308

An Afternoon Tea

Peggy Sue and Co, had a lovely afternoon tea at their friend's house yesterday.

It was so lovely for them to spend time together.

The afternoon tea was delightful, such a yummy spread!

Lucy read out loud for a little while which Janice enjoyed.

Peggy Sue very much enjoyed cake whilst little Annie cuddled her new doll.

You really should try this cake, Peggy Sue says.

Later, after her 'spa' Anne-Marie joined them.

She feels so pretty now, and is thrilled with the Spa Treatment Aunty Chris gave her.

Later she is joined by Rebekah Grace and Margaret (Little Maggie)

Annie is joined by her sister Lucy who also had some spa treatment.

Such a lovely way to spend the afternoon.

A Puppet Show

On the Schoenhut Cafe we are having a little August photo competition...it can be summer themed, or winter depending on what part of the hemisphere you live!  I wanted to do a summer theme, but August hasn't quite been as conducive as I had hoped weather wise, but today I managed to take a few photos of the Schoenhut children watching a puppet show.

Peggy Sue presents a puppet show for the children

She tells the story....

They all watch intently

completely enthralled by the show.

Rebekah Grace gasps with excitment

A great way to enjoy a bank holiday Monday afternoon.

Five on Friday

On my group 'The Schoenhut Cafe' we have a themed 'Five on Friday' and this week I chose to post pictures of my five 'non-Miss Dolly' Schoenhut girls.

Five of my Schoenhut girls on a Friday - I had plans to set up a proper 'posed' photo, but we have had the decorator in and I couldn't access my dolls until he had left, and then it promptly started raining - first time in weeks.  However, although it didn't last long, it was a bit wet to take them out, so here they are 'posing' in a row.

From left to right:

'Janice' (16/101), 'Rebekah Grace' (14/105), 'Astrid' (16/307), 'Florence' (14/313) and Clara (16/301)

If I'd planned it out better I might have had them all dressed in blue, but quite obviously didn't!

Hoping for a Ride.

Rebekah Grace and Peggy Sue are trying to go for a ride on Push-a-Long Dog (who is waiting patiently for a name!)

But to no avail...before long Rebekah Grace gets bored with pretending and goes inside to see if any of the other boys or girls want to play with her.

Peggy Sue's patience however is rewarded when along comes Big Betsy who happily provides the pushing power!

Whee...this is fun,  Peggy Sue calls out.

Fashion on Friday

A little bit of sewing and knitting done this week.

Today I made a little dress for my Blue Eyed Bleuette.  She had been awaiting a body which finally arrived yesterday.  Now I need to make her some shoes and socks!

Her wig is currently just a temporary one as it is the only one I had that fitted.

Hitty Madge went awol for a few weeks and when my husband finally found her up at the Sailor's house the relief all round was immense so I just had to make her a new dress!

I was asked to make a 'ballet' cardigan for a 22 inch Schoenhut.  This was the 'prototype.

I then knitted another with ribbing to the sleeves and body.

Rebekah Grace ended up with a dress unexpectedly but is delighted with it.

Lewis is modelling a sweater that will be going in my Etsy shop.  This fits both 16 inch Schoenhut dolls and Gregor/Sasha dolls.

Lastly another dress that will be going in my Etsy shop for 'A Girl for all Time' dolls, modelled by Matilda.

Introducing Rebekah Grace Schoenhut

Several months ago I had the opportunity to buy a friend's doll that I had often admired.  I had her sent to another friend's house in the USA so yet another friend could bring her home with her after the Sasha Festival that I had originally planned on attending, but had to unfortunately cancel.  It was so nice to think I was having a 'treat' come home from the Festival, especially having both missed that and having since had to sell several special dolls.  It seemed a long time waiting, or at least if felt like it!  Finally she arrived home here on Sunday on the day of our Summer Picnic.

Not normally one to show pictures of myself on this blog, I decided as both Jocelyn and Doll Mum had taken photos of me unwrapping the doll I would post them.

Unwrapping her...

My surprise...

at just how petite this little Schoenhut doll is.

I just couldn't get over her size.

She came with a wonderful wardrobe of clothes, two pairs of shoes and a stand.  It is so nice to get a doll with a ready made wardrobe!

Doll Mum had dressed her in this pretty blue dress, as she had just been wearing her underwear.

Which was uncannily similar to Peggy Sue's blue dress that I made her a couple of years ago.

Peggy Sue makes the little girl feel welcome.

This doll dates from the Classic period - April 1912 - 1916.  She is from the 100 Series - "Carved Hair" Girls and  is model 14/105.  The 14 indicates her size in inches. This 105 doll first appeared in June 1912 in a 'Playthings' advertisement.  Her ribbon was either pink or blue and this girl has a pink ribbon.  Eyes would have been either blue or brown, and she has brown eyes.   I am guessing my doll was one of the earlier dolls.

The bright sunlight doesn't show her to her best advantage here, but she wanted to show her red vintage dress off.

I think she is going to be called Rebekah Grace...but probably Gracie for short.
