Little Action

Just a few snippets this week of the very little doll action that has been happening here.

Action Man came across some clothes laid out the other day.

Trousers, shirt, jacket, boots and a cup!

He is pretty pleased with them.  They fit well, although the boots are pretty lose.  They were supposed to be genuine sixties AM boots, but they are a little big, so he might go back to the others he had borrowed.

Little Eva has come out of hibernation to inspect the garden.

She was pretty pleased with what she saw.

Loving the pink flowers.

So short and sweet, but that is all that has happened with the Rose Cottage Friends this week.

A Man of Action

Enjoyed his time down at the beach today.

He partook in some rock climbing

But was disgusted at the amount of rubbish on the beach - in which this is a mere 'drop in the ocean' as they say.  He is making a call for action to tidy up the beach and plans to take a bag down each time he visits to clean up as much rubbish as the bag will hold.

A Year in Review 2019

Although there has inevitably been some new arrivals this year, most have come from charity shops and been real bargains... and of course I have made a lot of dolls this year, which really helped.  The dolls that didn't come from the CS I bought in January before Percy became ill which were on a long term wish list, and a couple that had been on my wish list for a very long time I bought when the opportunity arrived later on in the year.    I'd like to do even better next year on limiting my spending on dolls and doll items.  I will have to anyway as it seems Percy's treatment will be continuing for most of 2020 as well which has come to a bit of a shock to us as we thought the treatment would just be for a year.  So there will still be more dolls that will have to be sold, as well as the ones I still have for sale.  I AM negotiable on them, so if you are interested please don't hesitate to contact me.

Some highlights of the year are:

Henry getting a new head of hair and of course visiting New Zealand

Finding Kiwi Sindy in an Op shop in NZ...just at the right time, when I needed a 'pick me up'.  She has become a firm favourite of mine.

My £1 vintage Action Man.

The making of Martha the Elephant (and her two sisters for my Mum and Sister) and doing a 50 plus day project with her.

Making my childhood doll Linda her first new dress ever!

Finding sweet baby Natalie for £1.30 in a Charity Shop.  What a high I got from that.

The making of Howard Bear and enjoying him.

My Tiny Rag Dolls (minus three that were given as gifts)

Advent 2019 - Day Eight

Oh AM, do you think whilst those extraordinary large children are still tucked up in bed you could open the Advent Calendar for me?  Sindy asks while fluttering her eyelashes.

For you Doll, anything.  AM replies.

Holding hands they hunt for Day Eight.

Oh look there it is.  Sindy says excitedly.

Flexing his muscles as only AM can do, he opens the door for today.

Of course he has to make a meal of it....

Ta DA my love.. he says as with a flourish he presents the gift of the day to Sindy

A lamp to light the way

This lamp will shine, as my love shines for you....he says rather unexpectedly romantically for him...

Suddenly the twins appear

or rather it will attract little brats I mean children like moths to the light ... he thinks quietly to himself.

Sindy doesn't mind...at the moment she only has eyes for him!  She pats one of the twins on the back very tolerant of their sudden appearance and excitement.

Something on Saturday

The strangest things can happen during the night....

I discovered this in the morning when I got up.

Looks like someone has a new love interest!

Seems like AM who was bought (£1 local CS) to be purely a boot donor for AM Dennis, has not only found a love interest, but also a pair of trainers!  I guess that means he is staying.

While out today...

Scarily the Christmas displays are out in full force.

Who's this on my lap?

Dennis the Man

Well it seems Dennis it is....I am not sure where this name came from, but that is the name that seems to keep coming into my head when I either look at him or try to think of other names for this Action Man.  I came up with quite a few other names as well!

I knitted him another sweater last night, from a vintage pattern of mine that originally sold for 8 pence!  I changed the back slightly so it had a placket opening which seemed preferable to what the pattern was suggesting which didn't quite make sense.  I'm pleased with the way this knitted up.

I love it when I find a doll in a Charity Shop for a mere £1.50. Not only do I not feel guilty about 'spending money on a doll'  I think in some ways they are more fun...you 'rescue' them, clean them up and dress them, wholly more satisfying than getting a doll that is already 'A Okay'.  Not that there is anything wrong in getting one like that.

Vintage Palitoy Action Man

I've been wanting a Vintage Palitoy Action Man for a long time... why?  Who knows?  I just have.  So imagine my delight when I saw a bundle of action men dolls on the shelf in the local charity shop....although admittedly I wasn't expecting much, when languishing behind the box they were in was a fabulous guy from the sixties.  He was missing his hands and didn't have any clothes, but he was definitely coming home with me!

No hands, but still has his hand pegs.

I think for an Action Man he has rather a pleasant face.

Someone made the comment that they 'based Daniel Craig' on Action Man!  Hahaha

I discovered you could get hands on Evilbay, so I ordered a set for him and got knitting.

Using a vintage pattern, I knitted this green sweater, which is definitely needed at the moment as the weather is rather unpleasant. His hands arrived today and I finished his sweater last night.

Just got to think of a suitable name for him now.  Dennis and Frank are currently in the running...
