A Room Box

During the week I found a 'new' wooden box in a local charity shop for £1.49   These types of boxes are usually quite pricey for what they are.  I've wanted something similar for ages, so when I saw this I thought it would work well for the project I have in mind. 

Some of the TRDs tried it out for size this afternoon.

The little holes at the side I will turn into 'windows' and make up some scenery type pictures to go in them.  

Petunia has suggested to Clipper that they go shopping for some items needed in the recipes...I think she must be hungry!  Amelia is simply relaxing.

Rose is happy to see the possibilities this little room box holds.

A New Project.

A new TRD in the making.  

I haven't felt like making one for a while, but today that feeling has gone and I have started a new girl with striped stockings.  I wanted to make a TRD with stripes on her legs for ages.  My last was a Raggedy Anne look alike that I made back in 2016 and she can be seen by clicking HERE

Subtle stripes, not too dark.  I was going to do red, but decided to go for a pale green in the end. I am hoping this will go with more colours.  I may still make one at some stage with red stripes, I am undecided.

While I was doing this, Clipper took Petunia out in the garden as it was such a lovely day...

Petunia was excited to find a flower in bud that was the exact same colour as her top, shawl and patterning in her skirt.  She is looking forward to it coming out in bloom properly.

Tiny Rag Doll Swap Received.

Back in September I wrote about a Tiny Rag Doll Swap I was doing with a friend in the USA.  Well there was a lot of excitement at Rose Cottage this afternoon as the Tiny Rag Doll Village welcomed a newcomer to their midst.

Miss Edie Brooks, Audrey, Clipper and Lucy were very interested in the parcel, but briefly posed for a photo of them with it.

I had such fun unwrapping all the little tissue packages.

Just look at all these wonderful items!

A stunning TRD, her wardrobe, some yarn, hemostats, which will be very useful for turning and stuffing tiny things.  A journal, which I am sure will be continued.  I will have to take another photo of this as I forgot!

The girls wait patiently behind so as not to overwhelm her.

Her name is Petunia Creek - she came with the name Petunia, and she told me her surname was Creek after where she was 'born' at  "On Bay Creek".  I just love her hat, I have long admired Dawn's hats she makes for her TRD, so was absolutely thrilled to receive one with Petunia.  Look at her fabulous skirt as well.  Isn't it just perfect?

Just look at this wonderful wardrobe.  Beautiful hand dyed items.  So exciting!  I just love it all.

Clipper even got a little parcel.

She thinks it will go perfectly with her polka dot skirt.

Not sure what happened to Lucy and Audrey...I think they must have been admiring all the goodies and planning what is going to be made with the wonderful yarn...little do they know some of it is already earmarked for a project.

Clipper couldn't wait to take her out in the garden.

So rushed in fact was Clipper, she didn't realise her skirt was all 'wonky'!  

They take a walk down to the pond to see if they can spot any wildlife.  None was to be seen, so they wandered on.

They admired the roses that are still valiantly blooming despite the very changeable wet and windy weather.

Thank you for the wonderful swap Dawn, I feel very lucky to have been able to share this experience with you, and even luckier to have one of your special dolls.  I will treasure her for always.

Something on Saturday

The strangest things can happen during the night....

I discovered this in the morning when I got up.

Looks like someone has a new love interest!

Seems like AM who was bought (£1 local CS) to be purely a boot donor for AM Dennis, has not only found a love interest, but also a pair of trainers!  I guess that means he is staying.

While out today...

Scarily the Christmas displays are out in full force.

Creative Week 24

My List for this week was:

Autumnal knit dress for Hazel  -  þ 

An Autumnal dress for Madeline -  þ 

I want to work on my TRD Journal, as this is way behind. -   þ 

Knit a pink top for one of the TRDs. -  þ 

Knit something for the Sasha/Gregor/Schoenhut dolls, if so inspired. -  þ 

I will try and stick to this list to start with, and then once I have achieved this, might deviate... we will see!

The little pink top for Fuchsia Fairweather was knitted.

Madeline got her new Autumnal dress.

Hazel got hers.

I knitted a cardigan and cap to fit Schoenut/Gregor boys.  Lewis as always makes a fabulous model.

I think I might make some blue socks with red stripes to go with this little set.

Peggy Sue got a 'LBD'.  I am going to make a few accessories this coming week to make it more 'Halloweenish'.

I made Clipper a new skirt to go with her her 'Mix n Match' wardrobe.

I have also managed to do quite a few pages in my Tiny Rag Doll Journal, so almost up to date now.

A Mix n Match Wardrobe - Part Two.

Clipper's new mix n match wardrobe is growing and transforming.  I am thinking that some of the original clothing I made her (with the purple hues) might be going to another doll and she will stick with greens and browns, and now reds which she insisted were added most recently.  I am having a lot of fun with her wardrobe, and loving how it is evolving.

While I had a few days off from knitting I made her a red jacket which I showed in my Creative Week Summary post on Sunday.   I added a little red gingham skirt with a trim that brings in the greens.  I think I will make her a pair of red boots as well. 

This is her wardrobe to date.  

I can see at a glance what I need to add:

A couple of bags, some shoes and some boots for the colder weather.  Perhaps a long sleeve cardigan or two would be nice additions too.

Yesterday while she was out with me on my walk she wore her new skirt made with fabric I had dyed with marigolds from my garden.  She posed for some of the people in the group as they wanted to take a photo of her.

The fabrics above show the before and after photos of the fabrics I dyed.  The shades of greens to the right were dyed in Marigolds and the fabric bottom left was dyed with beetroot grown in our garden, which was a surprise as it dyes your hands red, yet the fabric went almost a beige colour.  

Difficult to see that this is a green shade in this photo.

I put a little button at the back and the skirt is tightened with a little drawstring.  This works really well with these tiny skirts.

I knitted an olive green tee, hat and shawl with the very last of that colour of gorgeous NZ Merino wool I bought last year.  I had just enough to make the ties - with one inch left over!

A friend started doing a chart for me - I love this!
