A Doll a Day in April: Day 25 - Natalie

Today's gorgeous Sasha baby is my doll of the day, and I found her in 2019 in a Charity Shop!  What a treat that was.  She is wearing a little one piece romper suit with matching booties I made.

A Doll a Day in April: Day 23 - Ginger George & Happy St George's Day

Ginger George tends to spend his time as a sailor nowadays...but perhaps it is time for a change, we will see!

In the meantime he wishes you a Happy St George's Day!

Advent 2023 - Day Twelve

Today it is Robyn's turn to open the calendar.

Robyn is a new baby to Sasha Haven.  She was such a great price and came wearing her beautiful Robin dress, for which she is named.

She can pull herself up, but the little window is too high up for her.

She just can't quite reach!

Oh I wonder what you have in there? It looks like a cookie tray!

In her rush to want to put it in the little bakery, we forgot to photograph it!

Here is the baker carrying it.

Thank you Robyn for opening the calendar today.

Such a sweet little baby.

Sewing on Saturday & Gail Wilson Kit Set - Part Three

Today I made the little outfit that I got given for my birthday for my Sasha baby Natalie that I found in the charity shop just before Christmas last year.

I'm really pleased with how it made up.

This is an original Sasha Cloth Kit sewing set.

Natalie seems pleased with the outfit as well.

I also worked on the body for my Gail Wilson Kit set doll.

It was quite difficult, but I finally got it made.

I will work on her clothes tomorrow.

A Year in Review 2019

Although there has inevitably been some new arrivals this year, most have come from charity shops and been real bargains... and of course I have made a lot of dolls this year, which really helped.  The dolls that didn't come from the CS I bought in January before Percy became ill which were on a long term wish list, and a couple that had been on my wish list for a very long time I bought when the opportunity arrived later on in the year.    I'd like to do even better next year on limiting my spending on dolls and doll items.  I will have to anyway as it seems Percy's treatment will be continuing for most of 2020 as well which has come to a bit of a shock to us as we thought the treatment would just be for a year.  So there will still be more dolls that will have to be sold, as well as the ones I still have for sale.  I AM negotiable on them, so if you are interested please don't hesitate to contact me.

Some highlights of the year are:

Henry getting a new head of hair and of course visiting New Zealand

Finding Kiwi Sindy in an Op shop in NZ...just at the right time, when I needed a 'pick me up'.  She has become a firm favourite of mine.

My £1 vintage Action Man.

The making of Martha the Elephant (and her two sisters for my Mum and Sister) and doing a 50 plus day project with her.

Making my childhood doll Linda her first new dress ever!

Finding sweet baby Natalie for £1.30 in a Charity Shop.  What a high I got from that.

The making of Howard Bear and enjoying him.

My Tiny Rag Dolls (minus three that were given as gifts)

Advent 2019 - Day 22

Henry asks the newest member of the family if she would like a turn at opening the Advent Calendar.

Baby Natalie looks up at him and indicates that yes she would.

He helps her find the correct day to open.

He helps her open the door as it is a bit high.

Giving the package to her he watches over as she opens it, helping as required.

Of course like most babies, it is often the packaging that fascinates more!

It seems that there is a little hobby horse, tiny doll and sack.

Baby Natalie is fascinated by the little hobby horse.

The toys are placed in the workshop.

So much to look at!

I think she is going to be sitting there for quite a while!

An amazing find!

Well yesterday I received a very pleasant surprise when browsing the charity shops in the Sailors town.  Looking through a bundle of toys I spied a familiar looking leg.  It was a Sasha Baby leg!  Pulling the baby out I was even more surprised to see the price tag!  Needless to say there was absolutely no hesitation whatsoever.  What a great Anniversary present!

Here she is getting into mischief at the Sailor's house...

She is fascinated by the lettered lights.

Says hello to the reindeer

Watches the train go by with Howard Bear.

Has a better look when it is stationery.

Here are the photos I took once home...

Yes that is the price!  A mere £1.30!  I've dreamed of finding a Sasha or Gregor doll in a charity shop for years...never did I think I would find one, and whilst 'just' a baby, I am absolutely thrilled.  It really did make my day and I fair skipped back to my son's place.

Today I found something for her to wear.

A photo without flash.

With flash.

I'm hoping to make a Christmas outfit...but we discovered a leak in my sewing studio/storage shed and a lot of stuff was sopping wet, so we had to clear that, and sort out all my music that had sustained water damage to try and dry it out.  Of course this now means that I am in even more of a disorganised state as all my music is now up at the house!

I looked up the 'name day' for the 21st December and it was Natalie so I looked up what that meant, and found this:

From the Late Latin name Natalia, which meant "Christmas Day" from Latin natale domini.

I thought this is probably the perfect name for her, even though it isn't actually Christmas Day yet, it is near enough!
