Making Coathangers

In working on Martha's World, I am aiming to use what I have to hand rather than buying things. I thought we had some large paper clips, but unfortunately I only had a couple, so did have to buy some more, but managed to get a container of them for £1 from Sainsburys so figured that wasn't too much to spend.

Paperclips and tools to hand.

I bent the shorter part of the paperclip up.

I then bent the other long part up to make a triangle.

With some pliers I bent a hook and then clipped a bit off with the wire cutters

A very simple coat hanger that does the job!

Delphine

I made this little knitted doll back in 2013, you can read a bit about her on one of my original blogs here:  Delphine, the Travelling Doll, not that she has actually travelled anywhere!  Unless you count a puppies mouth!  Yes unfortunately she got chewed, but fortunately it was just her hair that was damaged, which can be replaced, oh and she lost a shoe!

Yesterday I set about replacing her hair.  I thought I'd try a completely different style, but we both decided she didn't like it!

So out it came this morning and I redid it as close to the original style as  I could.

We both agreed that it is what we are happy with.  Sometimes change isn't good, especially if it is too much of a change.   Perhaps I will knit another doll to use this hair with, one that has a more hippy/free nature spirit character about her.

I also knitted her new shoes - this time purple glitter shoes.  She likes them very much.  I have no idea what happened to her original clothes, apart from the purple dress which she is still wearing.  I will have to see if I can find the skirt and top.

Delphine is quite happy with her new hair now!

A Gift and Kindness.

We were sent this cute little doll in the weekend, and it was going to be for Everlee Rose, however, she came across Lewis sitting by himself.

What's up Lewis?  She asks.

Oh, I don't know, he says... I think I feel a little lonely at times.

You shouldn't feel lonely here.  She says.

I tell you what, why don't you have this special little doll that was sent to us by Mummy's lovely friend Aunty Lel?

Really?  Lewis asks.

Of course.  She says and he reaches up for it.

Everlee gives Lewis the little doll and he immediately hugs it and gives it a kiss.

Everlee watches on with a warm feeling inside.

She can see she has made him really happy.

I'm going to take him to bed with me every night.

Lewis tells her as he lays his head next to the little doll.

You'll have to think of a name for him now.  Everlee Rose tells Lewis.

Don't forget to write Aunty Lel, a thank you letter Lewis.  Everlee Rose says.

A little later Lewis is seen sitting on the settee still cuddling his new doll.

I have someone I can tell all my special secret thoughts to now.  He thinks to himself.

I wonder what he will name this sweet little doll?

A big thank you to Lel for thinking of us, and sending this little treasure.  You have made us all very happy and especially Lewis.

Wonderful Gift Box.

A few weeks ago Henry received a package from the USA.

He was delighted to discover it was from his dear friends at Gregoropolis.

He asks Everlee Rose if she would like to help him unwrap the package

Of course she was delighted to.

Oh look, a Lego train set to make.  He exclaims.

Isn't this just the coolest thing?

It sure is Henry.  Everlee Rose replies.

Henry finds a hat next and Everlee Rose a bag of sweets.

Oh, we better make sure we clean our teeth after eating these.  She says sensibly.

They sort through the other gifts and are thrilled to find some postcards for Henry's Postcard Collection Album, a fridge magnet and a puzzle.

They sort them out on the box to show what they were lucky enough to be sent.

Aren't these gifts grand?

Thank you so much to the boys and girls of Gregoropolis and of course John and Steve, for this wonderful care package you sent us.  It is very gratefully received and will provide much enjoyment - and as you can see it already has!

Henry plans to sit down in the next couple of days to write a thank you letter.

Creative Week 17

I've had quite a creative week, AND I've started to feel better too...long may it last! I have had about four good days in a row now!  I do have to go for a blood test on Monday and my biopsy results on Tuesday, but hopefully all is good.

I finished the bear I was making for my husband's birthday

He is a nice handful.

I made him shorts and a sweater.

He met Martha and she thought he was a lovely fellow

Barnaby Bear.

I made a pair of dungarees for Martha.  Plus a 'T Shirt' to go under them:

Here she is wearing them while she inspects the progress of 'Maude' the third elephant in the series I am making.

I have also made her another little dress:

A cactus

A basket of strawberries and a cup, saucer and plates.

These accessories are part of a new 'project/challenge' I have started:  100 Days of Martha the Elephant's World.

This little case is part of my '100 Days of Martha's World' project.  So far I have 'laid' the flooring and wallpapered the back wall.  The table is made from a coaster I made just before I hit my teens.  I have used velcro to join the two pieces together so that if I ever want it to revert back to a coaster I can.  The four little flowers will eventually be the hooks for her to hang her clothes on.

The project will consist of spending a least 15 minutes each day crafting or working on something for Martha (or her friends) and taking a photograph each day.  I will set up a separate page for the 100 day photos.  I'm currently at Day Seven.

This coming week I hope to work on my two tiny rag dolls that are currently sitting in my work basket and to finish the clothing for the other four.
