Introducing Everlee

As I mentioned back on this post here Everlee was here on a temporary 'foster' basis as my friend asked me to sell her for her...well how could I resist this lovely face and of course with the encouragement from Peggy Sue and Stevie to 'Please Let Her STAY'  what else could I do??

She has just the sort of face and look I love about these dolls.

She will keep her name that my friend gave her, 'Everlee Rose Morgan'.

Everlee is a pumpkin string girl from around 1973/74 I am guessing.

I know, I know, I AM supposed to be Down Sizing...and I will be come April when I return home from visiting my parents in New Zealand.  But this girl is a keeper.
I have come to realise that for me it is not so much about the doll, her era and the 'fashion' but more about play and creativity.  I have known that really for a long time and as such the beautiful expensive dolls are in some ways wasted on me as they are too 'precious' to play with.  My dolls have to take a bit of rough and tumble as they experience life and play with me. They are my companions.

I will still keep a few dolls for themed displays - my Sailor family and the boys dressed up in the various costumes, but the rest will be dolls that participate in my stories.  It will be sad to see them go, and it was lovely to have them, but I think it will 'release' me to enjoy what I have more.

  2. I can see why you kept her. Like Donny, she has the quintessential Sasha looks.

  3. What is important, will tellyou so, Dolls that make me smile, tell me and they have the place of honor in the glass bookcase where I see themeach day as I pass by. My husband must feel the same, as often he will pause and look at his favorite when he passes by.

  5. hard to resist a girl like that, and especially when the other kids fell in love with her, too. You simply couldn't have turned her away.....

  6. I can see why you must keep her - she has that sweet young innocent look on her that's impossible to resist.
I believe that dolls want to be played with. Four of my Sasha kids arrived mint in box, and each of them looked so much happier when I released them, gave them a change of clothes and some adventures outside. But if possible, I prefer adopting played with dolls, who have a history and have been loved.
So I think you're doing the right thing!

    1. Thank you for your lovely comment. Yes dolls should be played with - that is generally what most were designed for, especially Sasha dolls. I prefer played with dolls as well, those that have 'experienced' a bit of life!

You are right about her look - it is that I think I find so appealing..

  7. That is a great attitude to letting go. I need to embrace it too. But meanwhile, how could you not house Everlee? She needed you, too.

    1. Well it is a good attitude...but I haven't quite embraced it yet!

  8. Each doll comes into our life with a reason, adding qualities of happiness. The length of their stay varies, sometimes long and other times, brief. We always know when it's time to let them go.
