Beds & Bedding

Or rather the lack of bedding!

Beds are on our mind at the moment....especially mattresses and bedding.

We have had this fabulous Migros (I think that is what it is called?)  bunk bed for several years now, and it still doesn't have any mattresses or bedding!

The boys don't think it looks very comfortable like it is.

They try it out.

What's your opinion Caleb?

Well it is okay to sit on...but I wouldn't want to have to lie on it all night, it is a bit hard!

We have a hospital bed.

It is wire sprung.

It did come with a mattress fortunately

Some bedding was made for it.

And it has been put to use on occasion!

You can read about it here: Hospitalised.

Peggy Sue has her bed - she tried out several before she finally settled on this one.

It is fairly simple, but vintage and she likes it.

I had to make a mattress, a pillow, some sheets, and have made a couple of patchwork quilts for it.

Lastly we have another larger bed that has also been here for a number of years but needs a mattress and bedding.

This vintage bed has a wire base.

Lewis tries it out for size.  It is the right length...

But the head board looks mighty tall compared to him!

Of course it may look better once it has a mattress and bedding on it.

It remains to be seen if it will be right for Lewis.

Beds!

So it looks like I have a bit of work ahead of me.  Three mattress and bedding to be made.

  1. Looks like you have your work cut out for you (hopefully the sewing machine is in a cooperative mood now)! A number of years ago, American Girl made a great yellow metal bunk bed set. They would be especially nice for us because (unlike most AG things) they're not the least bit 'girly' looking. The boys are dying to have them, but sadly Daddy Steve is not made out of money ;-)

    1. I did have the green AG trundle bed, but sold it last year...

My sewing machine and I got together the other day briefly...but still not overly friendly with each other...and I also discovered the overlocker has blown a bulb.

  3. I love the doll beds, too. I've been working on a posting about beds (planned for next week), so we must be thinking on the same wavelength. All of your beds are wonderful and each is so unique.

  4. Good selection of beds here suitable for a variety of dolls to sleep on IF only they had some BEDDING!
Thinking that you'd better get to work on your sewing machine quickly before your dolls are all sleep deprived!

    1. Indeed! They might still have a bit of a wait though at the moment.

  5. Lots of wonderful beds at your house, Lorraine...and lots of work ahead of you! Fun, though! I have two Sasha sized beds here, a brass bed that belongs to my AG, Mary Kate, and a wooden one that my hubby made me. The brass bed has a mattress and bedding, but the wooden one is as bare as your bunk beds. My boys love your bunk bed set. Hmmm....I may have to see if I can get my hubby interested in making me a set of bunks! Harry says that if I am taking orders for beds, he wants a bed like they have at Hogwarts. Oh dear! :-)

    1. Hmmm...lots of work, apparently my son also wants a quilt for his wedding present as well! Don't these little people and big people understand just how much work that is, especially when one isn't getting on with their sewing machine at the moment?!

Good luck with getting hubby to make some bunk beds, I hope you are successful!
