Saturday Catch Up & Gail Wilson Kit Set - Part Two

A bit of a catch up post....I realised I hadn't posted further photos of the Gail Wilson Doll Kit I am working on.

I started painting the boots and hair...

I finally plucked up the courage to do the eyes and lips

Although when I uploaded the photo I realised that the lips are much rougher than my glasses led me to believe!  So she has kind of come to a bit of standstill.  I need to do her cheeks and then 'antique' her, and it is this next stage that is causing me a bit of hesitation.

The boots have their 'buttons'.

I received Fuggler from my friend Sharlyn for my birthday yesterday

He was pleased to escape his box and informed me immediately that his name is Richard - Go figure?

It seems he is enjoying a joke with Peggy Sue.

They seem to be currently inseparable.

Frog has been on a few outings with me.

I thought I had a few more photos than these but must have taken them with my phone rather than my camera.

A 'new' Robin Rive bear has joined the Rose Cottage Bear Hug.  He tugged at my heart strings so I had to rescue him, plus he was a very good price.  Normally I don't like 'wonky' eyes, but there was something about him that really appealed.  He has clearly been loved, and will make a great little walking companion as he is small enough to fit in my pocket.

Off exploring.

He found a large comfortable leaf to sit in for a while.

He was delighted to find a ladybird in the garden. I am still waiting on him to tell me his name.  Why some can be named instantly whilst others take a while is very strange!

Happy St Patrick's Day

Well I had plans for a St Patrick's Day Party, or at least the Rose Cottage Friends did, but all I managed was the one photograph!

Hope all who celebrate it had a grand day.

Sunday Outdoors.

What to do on a Sunday - why look for Leprechauns of course!

Any hiding here?

Doesn't seem to be.

Now what has caused this?

Henry inspects the lawn and calls Lewis over.

Just look at this mess!  Henry says.

It is a disgrace.  Lewis agrees.

Looks like badgers work to me.

Yes, definitely badgers have done this.

It wouldn't be so bad if we could actually see them...but despite going out at all different times of the night the little so and sos have still managed to evade us.

Lewis wonders what can be done.

So they didn't find any leprechauns, just the garden dug up again from the nightly badger visits.

Lewis sits for a while.

Elsewhere...

Emily and Molly ask for their photo to be taken in their green dresses.

There seems to be a green theme happening....

Two pretty girls.

Doll Making: A Gail Wilson Kit Set - Part One.

Second Post for today.

I received a lovely box of Gail Wilson Doll kits that used to belong to a dear friend of mine who passed away.  I felt a bit out of my depth when I first opened the box to see all the wonderful kits, as the instructions looked very wordy and complicated.  So I looked through them all and then put them back in the box for a few days.  But this is silly as I want to do justice to these kits in memory of my friend and also as a thank you to her friend who kindly sent them to me.

I went back through them all individually.

I really wanted to make this one first, but was disappointed to discover the fabric for her fabulous dress pictured isn't included in the kit.

This one is cute too.

In the end after much deliberation I settled on this one.
There are two kits, one for the doll and one for an outfit.

I looked at all the bits, browsed through the instructions and then put it aside for another couple of days.

Today I made a start.

Fortunately the paints were still okay.  As they were several years old I was a bit worried they might have gone off.  I had to improvise with what to use to stick the tooth picks in that held the limbs.  A potato seemed to work just fine.

Now drying off ready for the next stage.

I'm sure it is a Fairy.

Everlee Rose Morgan heard there was a 'Fairy' theme on the Sasha Morgenthaler FB group.

I didn't have the heart to tell her that the little bear 'Fairy' she chose was actually an angel bear.

The bear has wings, so she must be a fairy Everlee Rose thought.

Love this girl so much, she is so pretty.

Changing theme slightly...

Jessica is a true Irish lassie with her red locks and freckles.

Little Action

Just a few snippets this week of the very little doll action that has been happening here.

Action Man came across some clothes laid out the other day.

Trousers, shirt, jacket, boots and a cup!

He is pretty pleased with them.  They fit well, although the boots are pretty lose.  They were supposed to be genuine sixties AM boots, but they are a little big, so he might go back to the others he had borrowed.

Little Eva has come out of hibernation to inspect the garden.

She was pretty pleased with what she saw.

Loving the pink flowers.

So short and sweet, but that is all that has happened with the Rose Cottage Friends this week.

Tea for Two Tuesday

Madeline's guest for morning tea today was Gigi.

They enjoyed a good chat and copious amounts of tea!
