Wandering with Wren - Tapnell Farm

On Wednesday Wren had a wander around Tapnell Farm.  She saw some fun creatures.

This bearded dragon is called Brenda.  That gave Wren a giggle.

She loved seeing the guinea pigs.

This house was pretty cool

Sweet guinea pig too.

A lovely rabbit.

She liked watching the wallabies eating.

But you had to watch out for Wallaby poo!

Always loves the donkeys.

A map of the park

Must support Isle of Wight Farming of course.

Not that the ice cream van was open.

Having a little rest.

The ponies were sweet, but we would rather have seen them on the grass instead of in a noisy barn.

Some sheep.

Some cute piglets.

There were also some Kune Kune pigs that we felt very sorry for.  They too were in the barn, and looked quite unhappy compared to a friend's that used to live happily in a paddock on her property.

There were lots of activities for children, and there were various school groups having a lot of fun on bouncing pillows, swings, slides, bouncy castles, flying foxes etc...

Wandering with Wren: Verulamium Part & St Albans Cathedral

Wren had a lovely wander around Verulamium and St Alban's Abbey the other day.

She read about the London Gate

and then sat on the ruins of it.

Even though the weather wasn't the best, it did start to clear up and she saw some blue sky.

Sadly the lake has been flooded for many months now.

Hopefully they will do something to reinstate it, so people can once again enjoy walking around it.

The river was running well.

She walked up to the Abbey which was actually very busy as they had had a graduation ceremony there, and I think another was due in the afternoon, as the students/graduates were lining up when we were leaving.

Lovely stained glass windows.

So much to see, I didn't take  photos of the descriptions this time.  But Henry visited several years ago, and his blog about it can be found here: 2013: St Albans Magna Carta Festival  and again in 2014:
Helen's Visit: St Albans Visit with Friends.

Lovely vases of flowers.

Wren enjoys nature, and stands on one of the Roman Wall remains.

Snow drops

Pretty crocuses.

More snowdrops.

So pretty.

Part of the Abbey with a now beautiful blue sky.

Wandering with Wren to find a Mermaid!

Wren is going wandering today to see if she can find a mermaid

Off she goes down the path through the woods

She follows it along...

until she spies the sea.

at the top of the steps she pauses a while...

to take in the view.

She looks around to see if she can spot a mermaid as she has heard you can sometimes see them early in the morning.

She spies a cormorant.

Aha, what does she see?

With her camera at the ready

She spots a little mermaid on the rocks.

Wren watches quietly and takes some photos...

The little mermaid then changes position.

It looks like she is sunning herself in the early morning sunshine.

She stops on the rocks for a little longer...

before the call of the sea

beckons her back to the deep.

What a lovely way to spend the morning.

This was for the Youtube Blythe Mermaid Collaboration that I took part in.
