Peggy Sue's New Friend

I meant to post this at the end of May!

The other day I looked up and saw these two chatting.  It was uncanny really as I hadn't set them up like this, but sure enough they look like they were in deep conversation.

Turns out they have become very good friends having found things in common.

Both of them of course have red/auburn hair.  Robyn is the great (or is it great great?) grand daughter of Emily Bennett who returned to England after the war.  Peggy Sue is of course American and came to England in November 2012, so they have a similar heritage.  Of course Peggy Sue lived through the war being over 100 years old, although she strangely is still a child.

Having decided they are firm friends, they wanted to have similar clothes.

These two hand  knitted dresses look so pretty on them.  It was a lovely wool to knit with and drapes well.

They have requested various items of clothing....

Here they have dresses knitted from the same yarn.  The patterning on Peggy Sue's skirt makes it look a little odd.

The girls were excited to get a new settee

and tried it out for size

Robyn felt sleepy after a while.

In June they had to go to the mainland (blood tests and specialist appointment)

So enjoyed staying up late to catch the midnight ferry!

Peggy Sue met a mermaid and was puzzled as to why she was so far away from the sea and looked most concerned.

Robyn met the resident pig riding dwarf!

Coming back they got to see the ferry leaving the port.

They just chatted on the way back about their adventures.

At the beginning of July they had to go back up again (more blood tests!)

This time the weather was a better, and they got to spend some time in the garden.

They visited with Katie, who belongs to The Princess

Katie showed them the peppers and other plants in the garden.

Wren also joined them.

What fun they had despite it being a very quick visit.

I wonder what they will get up to next?

Let's Meet Hope - AG Truly Me 89

Who knew I would 'need' this doll to add her to my collection?

Certainly I didn't until I saw her for a good price on a certain auction site!

Immediately she intrigued me and I thought rose shoes... check, khaki outfit....check, perfect for the boys...and that hair!

She has the Josefina face mold which is a favourite of mine.

Out of the box, she is even cuter.

Such a sweet face...like them all!

I had this dress knitted and waiting for her when she arrived...but I feel like I made it a bit too long, and it didn't quite suit her...

So I gave it to my tallest AG doll Faith, and it looks much better on her. (Faith is one of the 'Fabulous Five'

With the left over yarn I knitted this instead, and whilst it could do with being a tad longer, and the other a tad shorter, it was a game of 'chicken yarn' to see if I would have enough, and I guess you could say yes.

These colours look really good on her with her coloured hair,

and I think she looks cute in it.

I made this dress yesterday, using similar colours that suit her.

It was a new pattern for me, and I am pleased with how it came out.

I love this fabric!

So I have set myself a little challenge to make a bit of a wardrobe, hopefully mix n match, for Hope.

I have made another dress, but I think I am going to take the skirt off and shorten the bodice a bit.  I am not entirely happy with it.  I tried to enlarge a pattern I use often for Peggy Sue, and although the prototype was a good fit, the actual dress isn't as good as I would have liked, which is a jolly nuisance as it was made with some of my special NZ fabric which I won't probably ever be able to get again.

Although looking at it in these photos, perhaps it is not as bad as I think.
