An Afternoon Tea

Peggy Sue and Co, had a lovely afternoon tea at their friend's house yesterday.

It was so lovely for them to spend time together.

The afternoon tea was delightful, such a yummy spread!

Lucy read out loud for a little while which Janice enjoyed.

Peggy Sue very much enjoyed cake whilst little Annie cuddled her new doll.

You really should try this cake, Peggy Sue says.

Later, after her 'spa' Anne-Marie joined them.

She feels so pretty now, and is thrilled with the Spa Treatment Aunty Chris gave her.

Later she is joined by Rebekah Grace and Margaret (Little Maggie)

Annie is joined by her sister Lucy who also had some spa treatment.

Such a lovely way to spend the afternoon.

A Cold Sunday Afternoon

It is cold and damp outside so what are the Rose Cottage Friends up to?

Archie and Anne-Marie are listening to some music on the stereo

Looking back in time: Anne-Marie's Arrival.

An old post copied to this blog as a reminder of when my very first Schoenhut doll arrived.

My Schoenhut Miss Dolly

After falling in love with a blogger friend's Schoenhut 'Miss Dolly', I decided I really wanted one to add to my doll collection.  I liked the fact that she is completely made of wood, china and porcelain dolls worry me as I would be scared to handle them in case they broke, and I really want my dolls to be more than just display dolls.  Of course I am supposed to be cutting down on my dolls and stopping my doll purchases, but she was bought from the US on Ebay before I had my reality check!  She has finally arrived today after a long time...stuck in customs!  Their exorbitant fees now paid she is finally home.

First impressions are...

I'm really pleased I have her she is everything I thought she would be and more.  She feels really good in my hands and arms and has a good weight.  She requires some work, but I knew that when I bought her.  I would never have been able to afford and justify one in minty condition.  I always think wear adds character to a doll anyway, I like to think it shows how much they have been loved in the past.  She has an old replacement human hair wig that I am hoping will tidy up nicely.  I will have to read up on how to care for such a wig.  I will also have to find out how to remove some of the paint to her body as she has been poorly repainted.

My husband thinks she is horrible unfortunately, but then he is a confirmed Sasha & Gregor doll lover, although he probably wouldn't appreciate me writing that!  Of all the dolls I have had and currently have, Sasha and Gregor are the only dolls he has liked.  Henry being his favourite of course.

She is wearing a vintage nightgown, again not original to her, but it is nicely handmade and with a careful wash should come up looking lovely and crisp.  She brought her little wooden doll with her which is signed on the bottom, although I can't quite make out the signature...looks like it starts with Bob... something.

She hasn't told me her name yet, but I am sure that will come as I start to clean her up and work on her.

I know she wouldn't be everyone's 'cup of tea', but I am really glad I have her, and she will be a keeper for sure.  I liked and admired her from when I first saw her photo on Evilbay and kept going back to look at her.  She had been the only one to really draw my eye, so I do feel like she is meant to be mine.

Fashion on Friday

A little bit of sewing and knitting done this week.

Today I made a little dress for my Blue Eyed Bleuette.  She had been awaiting a body which finally arrived yesterday.  Now I need to make her some shoes and socks!

Her wig is currently just a temporary one as it is the only one I had that fitted.

Hitty Madge went awol for a few weeks and when my husband finally found her up at the Sailor's house the relief all round was immense so I just had to make her a new dress!

I was asked to make a 'ballet' cardigan for a 22 inch Schoenhut.  This was the 'prototype.

I then knitted another with ribbing to the sleeves and body.

Rebekah Grace ended up with a dress unexpectedly but is delighted with it.

Lewis is modelling a sweater that will be going in my Etsy shop.  This fits both 16 inch Schoenhut dolls and Gregor/Sasha dolls.

Lastly another dress that will be going in my Etsy shop for 'A Girl for all Time' dolls, modelled by Matilda.

Fashion on Friday

Gosh over two weeks into August.  My last 'Fashion on Friday' post was at the end of July.

The knitting needles have continued to be busy, although I think I may have to rest from knitting for a while as I have developed a sore left thumb!

Lewis has a new 'school' sweater, socks and I also made him a pair of shorts..

This sweater is For Sale and will fit both Gregor and 16 inch Schoenhut dolls like Lewis.

This sweater is sold.  I also made matching socks.

This sweater Lewis decided to keep.

This sleeveless sweater and cap was an order I knitted for a 18 - 19 inch Schoenhut doll, so is shown on Hamish my KnC boy.

A beret was also ordered, which is being modelled by Anne-Marie.

Classic white cardigan

Modelled by the lovely Sophia

Also modelled by Peggy Sue

This cardigan is for sale and available to purchase.

Another cardigan, this time in a pale blue.

Modelled by Sophia

and by Peggy Sue.

This cardigan is SOLD.

I knitted Peggy Sue a cardigan with a variegated blues and light purples.  She can be seen wearing it in the Pinball post and at the Summer Picnic posts.

I have also knitted a lovely turquoise cardigan but that is waiting on some buttons.

In preparation for the Sasha Festival next year I also have a project underway for my hostess gifts - I am being positive in that I am planning that I WILL be pain free enough to go.

Because knitting might be irritating my thumb I thought I would do some sewing and as I had sold the last of my Kiwiana Summer Beach shorts for the Gregor boys I thought I would make some more up.  I have made 14 different pairs of shorts!

Henry is modelling a couple of pairs.

These are the rest.

They are all available to purchase, either through my Etsy Shop, or direct from me (at a slightly reduced rate if happy to pay via paypal using 'friends/family' payments).  My email address is on my For Sale page :)
